Kā Ora Telecare – Afterhours Service
Kawau Bay Health has a new afterhours service for all our enrolled patients who require support outside the regular Practice hours (8am-5pm Monday to Friday and 8am-12pm on Saturdays). If you are enrolled with the Kawau Bay Health GP Service, you can now access Kā Ora Telecare directly by calling our Practice number when we are closed. Kā Ora Telecare provides people living in rural areas with a quick and easy solution to connect with a health care professional for afterhours medical advice and treatment. Fees apply for consults with a clinician (Nurse Practitioner, General Practitioner and Emergency Doctor).
What is Telecare?
Telehealth or virtual healthcare provides a way of having an appointment with a doctor without seeing them in person. It’s sometimes also called e-consultation.
How it works:
The service is open 5pm to 8am (evening and overnight) on weekdays, and 24 hours in weekends and public holidays.
You can connect with the Kā Ora Telecare team by:
- Calling the Practice when we are closed (you will be automatically connected) … OR …
- Calling 0800 2 KA ORA (0800 252 672) – available after clinic hours.
You will first be greeted by a Kaiāwhina or a nurse. The team will assess your health needs, and you can either see a clinician directly or you may also choose to schedule an appointment later in the evening. - Booking an appointment online: www.kaora.co.nz.
Available from 5pm to 10pm weekdays and 8am to 10pm weekends and public holidays.
By booking an appointment, you will have a specific appointment time to connect directly with the medical team over phone or video.
If you need an urgent appointment after 10pm, please call the Practice or 0800 2 KA ORA (0800 252 672) to connect with our overnight team.
